Bark For Life 2013

Earlier this month, some of the AB Science team went to the Bark For Life of Nassau County at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration. The turn out was GREAT! It was our first year as a sponsor of the event and we had such a good time. All of the participants ended up raising a total of $6,422!! We are so, so happy to have been able to support such a wonderful cause.

If you didn't know before, Bark For Life is run by the American Cancer Society and is very similar to Relay For Life...except for dogs! Participants raise money for canine cancer research while having fun with their dogs and other dog owners. Check out some pictures from the event:

There were also a ton of dogs in adorable costumes! Sadly, we were not able to get any pictures but I'm sure you can imagine how cute they were. All in all, we were honored to have been a part of such an amazing event.

Exciting news!! Kinavet made its television debut back in February of this year and we didn't realize until now!

Animal Planet has a show called Pit Bulls and Parolees. The reality TV show documents the daily happenings at Villalobos Rescue Center (VRC), the largest pit bull shelter in the US. The founder, Tia Maria Torres, hires parolees and together they work to rescue the dogs - resulting in the name Pit Bulls and Parolees.

"Making Miracles" was an episode aired on February 3, 2013. At around the 40:45 mark, Dr. Kristen Kulinski from Cypress Lakes Animal Hospital in Louisiana mentions Kinavet! Kinavet was used to treat Chong, a pit bull that came with his brother, Cheech, in 2011. Two years later, the two have won over all the hearts at VRC and have become part of the family. Earlier this year, Chong was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and had to get his mast cell tumor treated immediately. Kinavet took it from there!

Cheech and Chong
Also, as some of you may already know, Kinavet is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. This concept has been gaining popularity, considering it was mentioned on NBC's Do No Harm, a human medical drama. A tyrosine kinase trial was mentioned around 2:17 when they were trying to use it as justification for the purchase of lab rats.

If you hear about Kinavet or tyrosine kinase inhibitors in general, don't hesitate to let us know! We'd love to check it out!

Summer Update

The AB Science USA team has had an exciting first half of the summer. We've brought on board three new employees, switched our main office location, and became a sponsor for the upcoming American Cancer Society Bark For Life...just to name a few special events.

We are proud to welcome Stephen Kim, Derek Leo, and Joyce Chen as our three newest employees. Stephen is the new Rocky Mountain Region Sales Representative, taking on areas such as Colorado, New Mexico, etc. Derek covers the Great Lakes area as the Upper Midwest Region Sales Representative, seeking out clinics in the Wisconsin, Michigan, etc. Joyce works from the main office as an Inside Sales Representative and makes calls to around the Midwest area as well as to Hawaii and Alaska. Welcome to AB Science!

Also, we've moved and settled into our new offices in Chatham, New Jersey. Our updated contact information can be found here.

One of our greatest accomplishments this summer has been securing our role as a sponsor of the American Cancer Society Bark for Life. This fundraiser looks to celebrate our relationships with our canine friends and to help contribute to canine cancer research. Join us on September 8 at the Bark for Life of Nassau County at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration from 11 AM to 2 PM. Spread the word and see you there!

Moving on into conferences, we are very excited to be returning to the Veterinary Cancer Society (VCS) 2013 Annual Conference in Minneapolis, MN from October 17-19. If you are attending, please stop by our booth to say hello! We will also be attending CVC Kansas City and CVC San Diego! CVC Kansas City will be held from August 23-26 and CVC San Diego will be held from October 31-November 3. Danielle, Yaeli, and Dr. Ahn will be attending the San Diego conference so be sure to be on the lookout!

As you can tell, we've had quite a busy summer. With half still left to go, we're enthusiastic to see what else is in store for us.
